When natural light fades, the body becomes a moving sundial.
At the tips of the hair, new burn-marks are lit—
continuing to measure heaven and earth.

Process

  • Holding a candle flame, the performer walks slowly along a desert ridge.

  • The flame is used to ignite the hair ends trailing behind.

  • The fire is shielded so it will not be blown out by the wind.

  • If the flame at the hair ends goes out, it is relit, and the walk continues.

  • From sunset until darkness falls.
